Local Rank Tracking Credit Calculator & Usage Guide
Most grid-based local rank trackers price their usage with credits — one credit roughly equals one keyword check at one grid point. How many you need depends on your locations, keywords, grid size, and how often you scan. Estimate your usage , no matter which tool you're comparing.
Estimate Your Usage
This estimate is based on GMB Radar's credit system, but the same formula applies to most grid-based local rank trackers — only the price per credit will differ between tools.
Understanding How Credits Are Used
Across most grid-based local rank trackers, every scan costs credits based on four factors.
Locations
Each business or location you track multiplies your total usage.
Keywords
Every keyword scanned at a location is counted separately.
Grid Size
A 3x3 grid checks 9 points; a 15x15 grid checks 225 — bigger grids cost more credits.
Scan Frequency
Daily scans (~30/month) use far more credits than weekly (~4/month) or monthly scans.
The formula: Credits = Locations × Keywords × Grid Size × Scan Frequency
What to Look for in a Local Rank Tracker's Pricing
Credit-based pricing makes it easy to compare tools on usage, but the fine print matters just as much as the headline number. GMB Radar includes every feature on every plan and lets you top up credits anytime — see our current plans for details.
Cost per Credit
Divide the plan price by its monthly credits to compare tools on equal footing.
Expiry Policy
Some plans lose unused credits every month, while yearly plans often let them roll over for the full term.
Top-Up Availability
Can you buy extra credits when you run out mid-cycle, or do you have to upgrade your whole plan?
Feature Gating
Are core features like scheduled scans or white-label reports locked behind higher tiers, or included everywhere?
Example Scenarios
A few real-world setups to help you map your own usage to the numbers above.
Single Local Business
1 location × 5 keywords × 25-point grid × weekly (4) = 500 credits/month
Comfortably fits within GMB Radar's Standard plan, with room to grow.
Small Agency, 8 Clients
8 locations × 10 keywords × 25-point grid × weekly (4) = 8,000 credits/month
Calls for the Professional plan, covering up to 20 businesses.
Larger Agency, Daily Scans
25 locations × 10 keywords × 49-point grid × daily (30) = 367,500 credits/month
A good candidate for enterprise pricing, or scaling back grid size or frequency.

Contact supportA credit typically represents a single data point on a geo-grid: one keyword check at one location point on the map. The more points in your grid, the more credits a single scan uses — a 7x7 grid uses 49 credits, while a 3x3 grid uses just 9.
Scan less frequently (weekly instead of daily) or use a smaller grid size. Both have a big multiplying effect on your total credits, more so than reducing locations or keywords.
Monthly plans usually refresh credits every month but lose whatever's unused at the end of the cycle. Yearly plans typically give you the full year's credits upfront, so you can use more in busy months and less in slower ones.
Most tools let you either top up with additional credits or upgrade to a higher plan. With GMB Radar, you can top up anytime without changing your plan — see pricing for details.
